Urine can be used to recharge the battery on a mobile phone | Bristol Robotics Laboratory scientists found a way to convert urine into electricity which was to attract the attention of "The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation" to invest in developing these findings. Human urine is converted into electricity that can be used to charge the battery on a Smartphone. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on a mission to improve sanitation humans, especially in areas that do not have adequate water supply, even challenged scientists to find ways to turn waste into something useful.
The technology discovered by scientists from the Bristol Robotics can transform urine into electricity called "Urine-tricity: electricity from urine". The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation funded on the topic "Create the Next Generation of Sanitation Technologies" is Sanitation Technologies for the Next Generation As part of the Grand Challenges Exploration Scheme (Round 7) Intelligent BioEnergy Group. Electricity from urine (urine) using / utilizing Microbial Fuel Cells (MFCs) to change the flow of urine to generate electricity and can be used for mobile phones.
Harnessing the Microbial Fuel Cells (MFCs) with special natural microbes located in the anode of the fuel cell as a bio - catalyst. Microbial urine will produce electrons and when connected to a cathode which allows to run and generate electron flow. In addition to passing of electrons and protons through the membrane that separates the ion anode and cathode chamber MFC can also react with the air to produce water.
